Joan Ryan MP took part in the Women Against State Pension Inequality's (WASPI) national Day of Action.
I am proud to have taken part in the Women Against State Pension Inequality's (WASPI) national campaign day.
I support the equalisation of the State Pension Age, but the decision taken in 2011, by the Conservative-led Government, to accelerate the rise in women’s State Pension Age has had a devastating impact on many women who were born in the 1950s, some of whom are now facing real hardship as a result.
According to the House of Commons Library there are around 3500 women in Enfield North who have been directly affected by the 2011 Pensions Act alone.
As a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group for WASPI, I will continue to support efforts to press the Government to bring in measures to help the women in my constituency and elsewhere who have been disadvantaged.
