Joan Ryan MP attends official opening of The Bartlett Arboricultural Training Centre

It was wonderful to attend the official opening of The Bartlett Arboricultural Training Centre, the first of its kind in the UK.

The centre was opened by Robert A. Bartlett Jr., the chairman of Bartlett Tree Experts, the world’s leading scientific tree and shrub care company.

This state of the art training centre will provide environmental education and training to young people, apprentices and skilled professionals alike.

There over 7 million trees in London, yet predictions suggest that there will only be 38 suitably qualified tree surgeons for every 100 jobs available in this area by 2017.

To combat this shortage the centre provides classrooms and workshops dedicated to the study of trees and shrubs, in order to pass down knowledge and protect our city's green spaces.
