Joan Ryan MP has visited the 'Explore Islam Exhibition' at Enfield Mosque; a public exhibition about Islam and its history.
It was a privilege to visit Enfield Mosque, Jalalia Jamme Masjeed, and attend a viewing of their 'Explore Islam Exhibition'.
In partnership with Exhibition Islam, an independent organisation that specialises in public exhibitions and events about the Islamic faith, Enfield Mosque has created a professional “museum-style” experience and have opened their doors to visitors of all faiths and none.
The exhibition is a great opportunity to learn more and Islam and the history of the Muslim community in the UK and around the world. After viewing the exhibition I also had the opportunity to receive a guided tour of the mosque and hear more about their work in Enfield.
Enfield Mosque has provided an important community service to Muslims for over 45 years and is the oldest mosque in this part of North London. In a diverse community like Enfield, I believe that it is really important for people of all faiths and none to work together to build mutual understanding between one another and strengthen our community.
It is a wonderful initiative for the mosque to be reaching out in this way and I understand that over 350 school pupils will be attending the exhibition and learning about the Islamic faith. This can only be beneficial and will help to show that we have more in common than that which divides us.
