Nearly everyone I meet is angry at what's happened to our community since the Conservatives and Nick de Bois won here at the last election.
Chase Farm Hospital has been downgraded and waiting times are growing longer and longer. Accident and Emergency and Maternity Services have now been cut from Chase Farm. That's despite an explicit promise from Prime Minister, David Cameron to keep them both open. There is no doubt that Chase Farm Hospital is needed, closing the A&E has led to queues outside both Barnet and North Mid A&E's.
Now that Chase Farm has been downgraded by the Tories it seems inevitable that at least part of the site will be sold off for housing.
My concerns are that when they sell land for housing they will take the opportunity to cut more patient services from Chase Farm - just like the Conservatives did before when they sold off Highlands Hospital, the Memorial Hospital and St. Michael's.
So I've launched a petition to protect our hospital from any more cuts. My petition calls for all and any proceeds of land or buildings sale on the Chase Farm site to be reinvested in Chase Farm Hospital to provide new build and top class facilities, a guarantee that the current level and range of services be maintained and for the Urgent Care Centre to have it opening hours expanded with a fully doctor led device. The responses have flooded in and many residents have already signed my petition.
