With rents rising so much and a whole generation being priced out of buying their own home, people in Enfield are facing a real housing crisis.
It’s not often I use that word. But when it’s almost impossible for people to buy, or even rent, a place near their parents or where they grew up I don’t know how else to describe it. To start with, we’ve got to make sure that people who are renting are getting a fair deal. Too often they’re forced to pay all sorts of ridiculous fees and charges that are totally unjustifiable. That must end. And, of course, we’ve got to start getting more new homes built.
